The impact of the adoption of improved varieties of millet on agricultural productivity in Senegal

Agricultural innovations are key to increasing the productivity and incomes of rural households in particular. This paper assesses the impact of the adoption of improved millet varieties on agricultural productivity. The data used in this paper come from a survey of farm households conducted in 2018 in Senegal. The scope of the survey covers the entire national territory and includes a sample of 700 agricultural households. The paper uses the propensity score matching model to assess the impact of adopting improved millet varieties. The main objective of this study is to assess the impact of the adoption of improved millet varieties on agricultural productivity. Econometric results showed that the adoption of improved millet varieties has a positive impact on agricultural yields.
